    • “I in them.” – John 17:23 July 31, 2010
If such be the union which subsists between our souls and the person of our Lord, how deep and broad is the channel of our communion! This is no narrow pipe through which a thread-like stream may wind its way, it is a channel of amazing depth and breadth, along whose glorious length a ponderous [...]

But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4. Many of us are all right in the main, but there are some domains in which we are slovenly. It is not a question of sin, but of the remnants of the carnal life which are apt [...]

    FAITH INDEPENDENT BAPTIST CHURCH

Faith Baptist Church began in 1962 when a small group of people met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker. The Mission program began on the same day under the direction of Pastor Clifton Stancel when this small group voted to support two missionaries, Brother Jimmy Rose to Brazil and Brother Mark Cambron in Florida to the Jews. The Church has increased the number of missionaries they support to 121.

    Our Churchl

The Church rented the American Legion Building in Bath, S.C. because they were unable to find a place to build a church. They talked with a Clay Company about buying a piece of their land. They said it wasn’t for sale, but they would check with the Main Office in New York. They let us purchase about three acres of land for $600. The bank in Langley loaned us $11,500 to start the Church. Members and friends gave sacrificially of their money, time and labor. Faith Baptist Church opened it’s doors in May 1963 with a little over 20 members including children. Since then a Sunday School annex and Fellowship Hall have been added to this property and a parsonage has been purchased.

Many souls have been and continue to be saved through the ministry of Faith Baptist Church both at home and abroad.

    Pastor Stancel

Pastor Stancel turned 81 on June 7, 2008 and the Lord called him home on June 12, 2008 on Pastor & Mrs. Stancel’s 62nd Wedding Anniversary. Pastor Stancel started preaching in jails and on street corners in 1954 and had been Pastoring a church since 1961. He served faithfully at Faith Baptist Church for over 47 years. (II Timothy 4:7 - I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:) Pastor Stancel loved the church and the people. We were all one big FAMILY. He dedicated his life to the Lord and serving his Church. He was there at all hours when we needed him, many times when he neglected things for himself and his family.

    Our Pastor

On Sunday, August 3, 2008, Faith Baptist Church voted for Pastor Michael Brendel to come serve as our new Pastor. Pastor Brendel and his wife Carol met at Bible College and married in 1991. Pastor Brendel is originally from Ohio and Carol is from Virginia. They have two children, Christina, who is 15 and in the llth grade and Michael, who is 13 and in the 9th grade. We are anticipating the Lord using Pastor Brendel and his family in a great and mighty way with us here!
